Roof Cleaning
How often should I get my roof cleaned? +
It depends on how many trees surround your roof line. If you have a lot of trees nearby, we recommend a treatment-only service every 1–2 years. If there are few trees around your property, you can typically go 5–7 years between cleanings.
Will pressure washing damage my shingles? +
Yes — that’s exactly why we don’t pressure wash roofs. We use gentle hand scrubbing and chemical treatment methods that effectively remove moss without damaging your shingles or voiding any warranties.
How long does a typical roof cleaning take? +
Depending on the size of the property, most jobs take half a day to a full day. Larger estates can take 1–2 days to complete.
Do you clean all types of roofing materials? +
Yes — we work with asphalt, cedar shake, tile, and metal roofing. Moss doesn’t typically grow on cedar shake, but we can treat it to bring the natural colour back.
Can moss actually damage my roof if I leave it? +
Yes. Moss traps moisture, encourages mold and bacteria growth, lifts shingles, and blocks drainage. Over time this leads to wood rot, premature shingle decay, leaks, and a significantly shortened roof lifespan. While a little moss might seem harmless, it creates a damp environment that breaks down roofing materials and can lead to costly structural damage.
Treatment & Safety
What solution do you use for the chemical treatment? +
We use sodium hypochlorite (bleach) combined with a surfactant that helps the solution stick to the roof surface for maximum effectiveness.
How does the chemical treatment work? +
We scrub the bulk of the moss off with brushes first. Any remaining moss is then treated with our chemical solution and will come off naturally within 1–3 months, depending on rainfall.
Is there any danger to our pets or gardens? +
We take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of your pets, plants, trees, and surrounding vegetation throughout the service.
Do you offer an eco-friendly version of the treatment? +
Yes! Hydrogen peroxide is available as an eco-friendly alternative. It does take a bit longer to rinse the remaining moss and comes at a slightly higher price point, but it’s a great option for environmentally conscious homeowners.
Scheduling & Logistics
Do I need to be home during the service? +
Not at all. We also take before and after photos of every service to ensure your complete peace of mind.
What happens if it rains on the day of service? +
For roof cleaning, light rain is usually fine — we only reschedule in heavy rain. For all our other services (gutter cleaning, soft wash, pressure washing), we can work in heavy rain. The only other exceptions are strong winds or snow.
Strata & Commercial
Do you offer maintenance contracts for strata buildings? +
Yes! We offer discounted package pricing for longer-term maintenance contracts. Get in touch and we’ll put together a plan that works for your building.
Can you provide certificates of insurance for our property manager? +
Absolutely. We carry $5 million in liability insurance and full WorkSafeBC coverage. We’re happy to provide certificates upon request.
Do you service multi-story buildings? +
Yes, we service multi-story buildings up to 4 stories.
